Homeware, beauty & clothing buys ♥

Hiya lovelies

I popped into town this morning to take back most of the items I ordered from New Look (in an earlier post).  Thanks for all your comment about the pretty blouse, I decided to keep it as its so lovely and nice worn with a pencil skirt for work.

In Primark I bought this ditsy duvet set...a snip at only £13.00 and definitely shabby chic which is the look I wanted to create. Basically we have decided to paint the walls an off white colour, the colour is called Jasmine White by Dulux and it matches perfectly with the wallpaper.   Our furniture is white too so I am sure it will look fab.

I have wanted this duvet for a while but wanted to be sure what colour we were going for before buying it.

I also got these nude ballet pumps.

I also got these Boots in the sale and got an extra 30% off so they came to £11.00.

I also popped into Wilkinsons to have a look around and ended up buying these artificial flowers...they look lovely in the cream vase and this is on my windowsill in the kitchen.

a few little bits

Vanilla ice cream nail varnish wipes £1.99, Primark Cath Kidston alike luggage tag £1.00, air freshener £1.99 for my wardobe.

I popped into Boots to get my No7 Mascara but it was full price and I had no discount vouchers so I decided to try another!  As all 17 mascaras are reduced at the moment I thought I would try one, problem is they have so many!!  I like the sound of the Peep Show one but thought I would try the Falsifeye one.  This is £6.49 at the moment.  I hope its good :)

Mike and I popped to B&Q after and we bought two curtain rails and a shelf for the bedroom.  We also went into Morrisons and I purchased these two white photo frames for half price..only £1.50 each.

I have a few photos I want to put up when the bedroom is done so I want to get a few more frames.

Oh and I also bought a few clothing items in New Look which I shall put in another post :)

Well my weekend will be spent stripping wallpaper...the horrible part! I will take some photos when its done.

Have a lovely weekend

Beauty Fail - Kelly Brook Mascara

Hiya

A couple of weeks ago I purchased the Kelly Brook Mascara that retails at only £2.99 in New Look.

This is the worse mascara I have ever bought!

Firstly the brush is massive, which is usually a good thing  I mean I like full long and thick lashes(like most people) but this brush is just too big.  When you apply it I find it ends up all over my eyelids....its terrible.

Secondly I find it stings my eyes slightly...that may be just me though.

Thirdly - The brush is not very easy to use because its so big but also its not very flexible, it feels like appling mascara with a brick!

I do not like this mascara at all I think I will stick with the No7 range which is the usual mascara's I buy and although they are a lot more expensive its definitely worth paying a bit more for a decent mascara.

Its a shame as I have bought other Kelly Brook products which I have been really impressed with.

Have you tried this mascara?

Whats your favourite mascara?

Whats in my bag?

Hello everyone

I have never done a post like this before so its something different :)
My bag is my new Nica Koper bag I do love this bag as its not too big.  I am not really a fan of those totally massive handbags that are really in right  now.

Cath Kidston purse

Tablets - I suffer with hypothydroidism (Under Active Thyroid) I will be on medication for the rest of my life but I always carry a box with me in case I ever am in a rush and forget to take one.
Iron tablets - I also have anaemia
Standard black comb
Pretty make up brushes from Forever 21
Paracetamol
Ipod shuffle - I walk to work most days it takes about 20 mins so I love to have music
Sally Hansen Airbush Legs - you never know when you may need a quick spray of tan...ha ha
Body Spray
New Look pink bow umbrella
Carex Antibacterial handgel....love this stuff I use it all the time
Spare hairslides
Thats really quite a lot for a medum sized bag...plus I realised my bag could be a chemist! ha ha

By the way can I just ask did you notice my new blog background and is it floral???

Take care

A few hours in Portishead

A couple of Sunday's back Mike and I went out for lunch and then we decided to go to Portishead which is not far from Bristol.  It was probably the actual first nice day we have had weather wise this year,  although it looks rather cold and dull in the photos it was actually warm..ish! :)

Portishead is a coastal town which overlooks the Severn Estuary.  It has a marina, boating lake, swing park and a little cafe.  It also has a lido (outdoor pool) which was closed for many years but has recently just re-opened.  If you have never heard of Portishead, you may have heard of the band though, its between Bristol and  Weston Super Mare.  I love going there as I find it really relaxing and you can park your car overlooking the sea and its so serene and peaceful..

 Mike on the rocky beach

If you look closely you can make out the newest severn bridge which connects England to Wales and beyond that the older severn bridge.

Lighthouse, in which you can walk onto and explore

Have you ever been to Portishead?

New Look order - Keep or Return please help!

Hiya everyone

On Sunday I made quite a large New Look order I mainly wanted some summer tops for work I managed to get 25% off and free next day delivery and so my order arrived yesterday.

I was not amused if I am honest most of it is going back...I ordered a size 12 in all the tops and they are more like a size 16! What is going on with shops sizing??

I really love this blouse though I am just not sure if its flattering on me.  I am losing weight though as I am exercising and I have managed to cut out a lot of carbs and definitely feel a difference in my tummy area....I used to be so bloated.  I am not used to wearing things like this so was unsure so whats your honest opinions?

I find blouses don't really suit me but this one is gorgeous and I like it tucked into my Peplum pencil skirt.

Please excuse the boobage but I wanted to show the pretty pattern close up!

I also bought a leopard print skinny belt...I have been after one for ages,

And I managed to get 2 strapless/multiway bras for £11.99! One in nude and one in white and they are fabulous basic bras and definitely worth £11.99.

I also bought the Kelly Brook masacara which is absolutely awful...may do a post about this at another time.

its a shame most of it is being returned though!

What do you think?

Haul - Shoes, boots and knitwear.

Hiya

Its been a whole week since my post about the white H&M dress but that same day I bought a few other things.
I had a little spree in New Look where I had a 20% off voucher too :)

Tan shoe boots - These were from the Teens section but I like them as they are not too high plus as I have small ankles I love the fact that these fit my ankles perfectly so there is not a massive gap at the top of the boots which I find happens a lot with boots.

Also in the Teens section I saw these pumps and although I may have mentioned before that I hate black pumps these are just stunning.  I love the crochet lace effect.

Peach cardigan - pics taken from website as my photos are not that good.  I love this cardigan as I love my pastels.

White longline cardigan

Gold by Giles in Cafe Au Lait

Also in Primark I bought another of these accessory hangers.  I bought one last year and its brilliant for hanging all your necklaces, scarves, belts and anything else you may want to use it for!

What do you think?

Today I have had a really lazy day.  I have just made a massive New Look order which mainly consisted of summer items to wear for work as thats one thing thats lacking in my wardobe.  My current work wardrobe at the moment contains a lot of black...boring!  I had a 25% off voucher too and I got free next day delivery.  I shall post about this later in the week.

The Shopaholic Tag

Hello everyone

I saw this tag on Louise's blog  http://confessionsofasecretshopper.blogspot.co.uk/ and thought it would be ideal for me seen as I am self confessed Shopaholic!

01. How old were you when you realised you were a shopaholic?

I think I was probably about 12-13, my mum used to take me into town on a Saturday and in school holidays and I loved our shopping trips.  She would always buy me loads of clothes in fact looking back she often neglected buying herself anything nice to buy me things..I am very grateful.

02. How do you feel after shopping, and do you have any weird habits after shopping?

Do you know I do....basically I feel amazing after a shopping trip and when I get home I usually show Mike my purchases...he is not usually that interested but still... ha ha.  The weird thing is I cannot take the stuff out of the bags to put it away until the next day, then I take each item out try it on and put it away!
I also photograph it for my blog!

03. What are your top 5 favourite stores to shop at and why?
  1. Forever 21 - I wish there was a store in Bristol.  I love this shop as its very nice quality, pretty clothing and its the same sort of price as Primark maybe a tad more expensive.
  2. New Look - I especially love their shoes and boots....I also have a friend who works in there and gets me 25% off.
  3. Primark - well I have a love/hate relationship with this store.  When they get it right they get it so right but when they get it wrong its disastrous!
  4. Asos - I think they have some lovely and unusual items and its usually a nice quality.
  5. H&M - I love H&M, its very inexpensive and I like the quality.

I also love Zara and Mango but they are very expensive in the UK but if I go to Spain its a lot cheaper there and I spend loads.

04. What item do you have most of in your closet?

Dresses, without a seconds thought.   I love dresses as they suit me and they are so versatile and feminine.

05. What's the most you've ever spent in one shopping trip?

hmm about £100 I don't tend to go to expensive shops so I can usually get a lot for that too.

06. Do you ever experience shoppers regret?

All the time if I am honest!   I am trying now to only buy things I really want.  I do tend to take things back though if I regret purchasing them..

07. What was something you regretted buying?

Cannot really think of anything!

08. What is your favourite thing to buy?

Dresses!

09. Do you buy the same item in different colours?
I have done if I really like something I will buy it in other colours.

10. Do you ever use dressing rooms?
All the time, I never buy anything in a shop unless I try it on.

11. Do you prefer to go shopping alone, or with others? And who is your favourite shopping buddy?
Depends really, if I am wanting to go serious shopping than its better to be alone but I think I prefer shopping with someone and making a day of it.

12. If you could go shopping with a celebrity who would it be and why?
Gosh tricky one.... here goes

Katie Piper - I love how she dresses and think she would be lovely and I admire her so much.

Alicia Dixon would be such a laugh to have around and you would have fun shopping with her!

Kelly Brook always dresses lovely apart from the dodgy dress she wore a few years back.

Zoe Hardman - she always looks fabulous too.  I love how she wears cowboy boots with dresses as I love this look.

Holly Willoughby - I think some of her outfits are a too old looking BUT 98% of the time she looks lovely.  I like her and I partically love this outfit I want the whole outfit.  She is naturally so feminine looking.  Anyone know where this dress is from? I want those cropped jeggings too!

13. If you could go shopping with a blogger/youtuber who would it be and why?
This is hard too as there are so many bloggers I would love to go shopping with!

I think Charlotte from  http://charly-sciencegeekchic.blogspot.co.uk/ would be brilliant as we both like our pretty dresses and she seems like a lovely girl.
Emma from http://theygrowsoquick.blogspot.com/   because she puts some lovely outfits together too and she too seems lovely.
and Charlotte from  http://charlotelizabeth.blogspot.co.uk/   because they both love the same sort of clothes as me and they are very girly.
Also Sadie from http://www.brandnewbutterflywings.com/ because she seems like a great girl and she always dresses so lovely and smart.
Also Sophie from http://cgdn.blogspot.co.uk/
because we would have a good rummage in the charity shops and she is witty and makes me laugh.

14. What's your favourite treat, snack, drink during or after shopping?
If I go with friends then usually we go to a nice restaurant but if I go alone then I usually just grab a snack

15. What is something you've always wanted to buy but never had the money to do so?
I am going to pass on this one as I think I buy most things I want.  I would love a gorgeous fake fur coat but the ones I see are £100 and I cannot justify spending that on one thing!

16. If you had £1,000 to spend on anything you want, what would you splurge on?
I'd buy a fake fur coat for sure and a few other things plus I would also treat a friend and buy them something.  I always say to my closest friend if I win the lottery I will pay for us to go to New York.  In fact we are actually thinking of going to New York next year for a girly few days!  Unfortunately I won't be paying for her though...unless those lucky numbers come in!...I wish :)

17. Are you a proud shopaholic?
Yeah, I am not in debt I don't have any credit cards so I think there is nothing wrong with it.

I Tag:
Anyone who wants to do this tag! Please let me know as I would love to see your answers.

Sorry I will get around to posting my haul from last week over the weekend :)

Take care

Reviving your wardrobe!

Every now and again I have a good clearout of things I no longer wear or do not fit.  I hate chucking things out though, I am a bit of a hoarder so our attic is rammed with things we probably no longer need or use...much to Mike's annoyance.

Most items I put on Ebay but some are not worth selling on ebay so they are given to a charity shop.

I had this cute little dress I bought from ASOS a few years ago but the zip had broken.  Usually I would replace the zip myself as I have done this before but this zip was extremely hard, therefore I needed the services of someone more professional. A neighbour mum told me of a local seamstress who just lives down the road from me and she does not charge a lot.
I popped down to see her and was greeted by this tiny little old woman who can hardly walk and who has crippling arthritis but give her a dress and she can work wonders.
She managed to put a zip in this dress for me for me and she was telling me she can adjust almost anything and she can even take things out, sometimes she will take material from another part of the dress and add it so you have the same pattern.

I also bought this dress in the sale in ASOS for £10.50 it was originally £35.00 it its was too big for me on the chest and waist but I could not bear to return it so for a fiver I had this taken in and now it fits perfectly.

I can take a hem up, sew a button and sew the occasional zip but thats about it for me.
I think having a good quality seamstress nearby is a always a good thing and she does not charge very much. I took the first dress into a well known dry cleaners and they wanted to charge me £18.00 to replace the zip..extortionate!

I realise that when I lose weight I may have a couple more dresses that I cannot bear to part with that will need taking in so I will definitely be asking her to alter these too.

Are you any good at sewing?

My new favourite summer dress from H&M

Hello

I popped into town today with Mike...I don't know why I drag him along as he hates shopping.  It was only for a couple of hours and I bought a pair of boots and two pairs of shoes in New Look and some other things which I shall post about in a few days.  I just wanted to show you my new favourite summer dress.  I totally love it.

It was £14.99 in H&M and its just so pretty.

Please excuse the dodgy tan on my legs I think I did something wrong as it looks a bit patchy but nevermind luckily its not that warm to show my legs off ha ha.

I adore the scalloped edge.

I have similiar dress from H&M I bought last year in cream but its more of a shift dress with long sleeves.

Apparently they have this in black and turquoise, I must admit I would not mind the turquoise one although in my opinion the white one is the best :)

H&M sizing is odd though as currently I am a size 12 and usually I find their clothing is really small but this was size 10, the size 12 was really big on me!

What do you think?  Do you love crochet/lace?

Have a lovely weekend
